Kathy Van Mullekom: These can handle the heat
Parts of the Peninsula have enjoyed decent rainfall in recent weeks. I'm happy for fellow gardeners, but I believe there's an umbrella over my neighborhood because little rain falls on my yard. Which is why I've given up trying to grow finicky moisture-loving plants. In my corner of the gardening world, it's getting hotter and drier every year, and I'm tired of replacing plants that wilt and succumb to Mother Nature's kiss of death.
